Catalog Management Project
I created a catalog management manual While I used Perry Middle School as my media center, it is fictious and not a working manual.
The Perry Middle School library is an integral part in helping students to achieve academic achievement and foster a love of reading. The primary goals of the school library is to work with classroom teachers to support classroom learning and make sure resources and materials are readily available, current, and easy to access. The library will work to provide resources to the staff, community, and parents to help students will become life-long learners with the skills to achieve in the twenty-first century workforce. The goal of the library is to instill a love of reading in students and provide materials from different backgrounds and diverse voices in order to help to create an empathetic view on the world.
A cataloging policy manual creates a uniform and specific way to organize a library. It helps to maintain a consistent form of organizing material for anyone who steps into a role at a library. It ensures that everything is the library is maintained in the same manner if the policies are followed.
Uniform cataloging and processing specifications make the material accessible to everyone. By implementing set specifications, users will be able to find the material easily and those working in the library will be able to manage the collection in a uniform way (which results in getting the material on the shelves quickly and finding resources when they are needed). A quick turnaround of material to be processed means that users will have fast access to the information in the most current way possible. Students, teachers, and librarians will be able to work together to ensure that the best material possible is being provided to help support student success.
